KMP BARTNIK

Rules

§1

The organizer of the KMP Bartnik Mead Competition (hereinafter referred to as the "Competition") are Bractwo Bartne, Augustowska Miodosytnia Paweł Kotwica Piotr Piłasiewicz S.C., and MIODOSYTNIA POD DĘBEM Piotr Cichanowicz (hereinafter referred to as the "Organizer").

§2

The Competition is intended for meads produced in home conditions by individuals not professionally connected with the mead industry (meadery owners, technologists, meadery office staff).

§3

The Competition will be held in five categories: traditional meads, spiced meads, fruit meads, experimental meads, and session meads.

From among the category winners, the best mead of the Competition (Best of Show) will be selected.

The Organizer reserves the right to create/expand categories in special cases.

§4

Each participant may submit a maximum of five meads to the Competition, one in each category.

§5

Meads will be evaluated on MJP judging sheets during the Competition. Each mead will receive a score, which will determine advancement to the final round. In the case where more than one mead receives the same score, the judging panel will decide on the advancement. If no consensus is reached, the head judge will have the final say. Judging sheets will only be used in the first round. In subsequent rounds, the judging panel will rely on discussion. Each mead in the Competition will receive a report with a score and description. In the final round, the winner is chosen through open discussion by the judges, rather than by scoring.

Each participant will receive their mead's evaluation sheet via email.

§6

Three meads will be awarded in each category.

The Organizer reserves the right to award fewer than three medals in a category if there are few entries or the quality of the meads does not meet the required standard.

A winner of the Canadian classification will also be selected during the Competition.

§7

Entries to the Competition are made by correctly filling out the application form available on the website www.kmpbartnik.pl and paying an entry fee of 40 PLN for each mead submitted. The deadline for submitting meads is March 31, 2025.

After the deadline, submissions will not be accepted.

§8

After payment, the participant will receive a confirmation email of their participation. The shipping address for the meads will be available on the participant's account.

§9

The participant is required to deliver the mead to the Organizer by April 15, 2025, in the amount of two bottles with a minimum volume of 0.33 liters each. For smaller bottles, a sufficient quantity must be sent to ensure a total volume of at least 0.66 liters. The correct label must be attached to the bottles using a flexible rubber band. Labels must be downloaded from the participant's account on the Competition website and printed. The participant bears the cost and responsibility for delivering the samples to the Competition.

§10

Samples sent to the Competition become the property of the Organizer and will not be returned. The Organizer is not responsible for samples damaged during transport, storage, or the Competition itself. Entry fees for damaged samples are non-refundable.

§11

Meads will be judged by mead judges and individuals associated with the mead industry from Poland and abroad. The head judge is Piotr Piłasiewicz.

§12

Information about the top three meads in each category will be publicly announced on the Organizer's website www.kmpbartnik.pl and on the Competition's social media channels.

§13

Participants submitting meads to the Competition agree to the publication of their personal data – first and last name, as well as mead details – for the promotion of the Competition.

§14

The Organizer reserves the right to amend the rules in the event of significant and unforeseen external circumstances.
